2016 Scholastics Art & Writing Awards

More great news!  The selection process for the 2016 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards has been completed and, once again, several Topeka West photography students were invited to have their images shown at the Wichita Center for the Arts from January 29 - March 6, 2016.

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards is a national art and writing competition with regional shows held in each state. If a student has their work selected they are awarded one of three awards: Honorable Mention, Silver Key Award, or Gold Key Award. After the regional show has concluded the Gold Key Award pieces are automatically selected to be juried for the National Scholastic Art & Writing Awards that are held in Washington, D.C. over the summer.

Please join me in congratulating these students on their amazing accomplishment! This is a very selective competition showcasing the best of art from high schools in the state of Kansas. All of our students should be very proud!!

The final judging has been completed in the Kansans...As Talented As You Think! high school art competition.  If you recall from a previous post, Topeka West seniors Adriana Lane and Marisol Tolan had their images selected as finalists in the competition.

Over winter break I received an email stating that Adriana's photograph, Aged Piano, has been chosen as the winner in the Black and White Photography category!!
